Charapita plant with various yellow and green peppers

Charapita

Yet another Capsicum Frutescens, the Charapita is a pea-sized bright-yellow chili pepper that grows wild in Peru´s Amazon. It has only just very recently started to be grown commercially, so it is still a unique pepper to find outside one of our home countries of Peru.

It is extremely flavorful, with citric notes and a good amount of heat. Their tartness makes them incredibly special in fresh preparations, and they are enjoyed in several preparations in Peruvian cuisine. This Amazonian miniature is sure to be a giant hit in your hot sauces or simply in your brine products.

Unlike other hot chili peppers, such as Scorpion or Carolina Reaper, Charapita does not burn down your tastebuds. These characteristics have made it an excellent option for your “foodie” clients who are looking to give their meals an extra kick in color and flavor but want to keep the heat low and savor the rest of their meal. If this is your typical client, give us a call.

Appearance: pea-sized and bright-yellow
Heat level: medium - 2/5
Popular products: dried whole Charapita, dried Charapita flakes, brined/pickled Charapita
